In Hebrews 4:16, the concept of grace is unveiled as an invitation to approach the throne of God with confidence. This verse illuminates the unmerited favor and boundless mercy that believers receive, emphasizing the opportunity to draw near to God amidst struggles and imperfections. Grace, depicted here as a profound gift, offers not only forgiveness but also empowerment, enabling individuals to receive mercy in times of need. This verse resonates as an invitation to encounter God’s amazing grace, encouraging believers to approach Him boldly, assured of His compassion and understanding in their journey of faith.
Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
Amazing Grace – Redeems From Sin
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7)
- “Amazing grace! How sweet the sound! That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see” – verse one of the hymn, “Amazing Grace.”
- Kings and presidents cannot pardon our transgressions. Silver and gold cannot buy forgiveness. Medicine and science cannot produce it. But Jesus can redeem from sin.
- Jesus Christ, through the grace of God, can reach down into the gutter of despair, lift up the penitent shoulder out of the miry clay, and redeem his soul from destruction (Ephesians 2:8).
Relieves Our Fears

- Today’s world is full of fear. Many are afraid to live, afraid to die, afraid of riches, afraid of poverty, afraid of youth, and afraid of old age.
- God’s amazing grace relieves fear. Since God is love, the more of Him we have, the fear we possess (1 John 4:18).
Reassures Through Danger
“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” (Psalm 91:11)
- “Thro’ many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come. Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home” – verse three of the hymn, “Amazing Grace.”
- Ours is a dangerous world. Without are storms, floods, thefts, murders. Within are trials, hurts, loneliness, and misunderstandings.
- God’s amazing grace is sufficient for those who put their trust in Him. Friends and loved ones may forsake us, but Jesus never fails (Psalm 91:14-16)
Amazing Grace – Rewards Eternally
“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;” (1 Peter 1:13)
- “When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright, shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun” – verse four, “Amazing Grace.”
- Earth’s treasures and possessions are temporal. They wear out, rust and decay.
- God’s amazing grace lasts forever. It is good to live by, and it will be good to die by. Christ is preparing a mansion for those who love Him (John 14:1-3).
